KAPOLEI-Ko Olina Taste at Kapolei, the all-you-can-eat benefit on the beach at Ko Olina Resort & Marina on Ulua Lagoon 4, will be celebrating its 10th year on Saturday, September 12, 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. with the largest number of restaurant and beverage offerings ever. More than 30 restaurants from Honolulu to the North Shore will be serving culinary fare ranging from Pacific Rim specialties to island poke; Okinawan, Thai, Egyptian, Italian, Japanese, and good, old-fashioned American cuisine; and cheesecake, yogurt, and more. Nine celebrity chefs, including one flying in from Maui especially for the event, will be serving VIP sponsors. Nine fine wine, beer, and spirits companies are donating the liquid sustenance for the Ko Olina Taste at Kapolei guests. The chefs to be featured at the Ko Olina Taste at Kapolei VIP sponsor section are Chai Chaowasaree of Chai's Island Bistro, Fred DeAngelo of Ola at Turtle Bay, Ron DeGuzman of Stage, Scott Higa of J.W. Marriott Ihilani Resort & Spa, Elmer Guzman of The Poke Stop, Dean Okimoto of Nalo Farms, Darryl Shinogi of Roy's Restaurants, and Russell Siu of 3660 on the Rise. Maui's David Paul, who recently opened the new Lahaina restaurant David Paul's Island Grill, will fly in to serve appetizers for the sponsor reception.Guests at the main venue can choose from 24 restaurants including Sam Choy's, Don Ho's Island Grill, Formaggio, Gordon Biersch, Haleiwa Joe's, Hooter's, Indigo, Kolohe's Bar & Grill, P.F. Chang's, Romano's Macaroni Grill, and Top of Waikiki; and local favorites Auntie Pasto's, Creations in Catering, Da Pokeman, Da Spot, Hapa Grill, Hana Sushi, Off the Wall, Souvaly Thai Cuisine, Tanioka's, and Thai Kitchen. For dessert, cheesecake will be offered by Cake Envy and Menchie's Yogurt will present its treats to early birds waiting in line to enter the event. For the first time, the Kapolei High School Culinary Arts Academy will be serving red velvet and orange cream cupcakes and truffles alongside popular restaurants and celebrated chefs.Fine wine, beer and spirits will be provided by HASR, Carneros della Notte, Flavors of Italy, Barefoot Wine, Better Brands, Paradise Beverages, Anheuser-Busch, Bacardi USA and Grey Goose Vodka, Hawaiian Springs Water, Coca Cola, and Hawaiian Isles Kona Coffee. Guests will be entertained by multi-Na Hoku Hanohano Award-winner Nohelani Cypriano and dance music by Almost Paradise, featuring singer "Little Albert." Slack-key guitarist George Kuo will entertain at the VIP sponsors' reception. The Ko Olina Taste of Kapolei will also feature a Kids' Zone, silent auction, and a farmer's market by the Waianae Searider Productions. The Ko Olina Taste at Kapolei, organized by the Rotary Club of Kapolei with help from area schools and volunteers, raises funds for Leeward area scholarships, youth and community groups.
